Lineup subject to change

Saturday evening, 6:00 pm, we'll be having a dinner gathering / awards banquet on the field. Dinner details to be announced, but it'll be similar to last year where we had a BBQ on the field.

Sunday: Departures

One reason we won't be charging admission for this event is that we won't be incurring costs like renting tables, chairs, porta-potties, etc. The airport does not have provisions for refreshments or snacks, so bring those too if you wish, but there will be nice, clean kitchen and restroom facilities and we will have a limited supply of ice-cold bottled water and soda.

Flying commercial? McCarran International Airport (LAS) is only 20 miles to the north.

Other things to do on the field

How about skydiving? On the field at Jean is Vegas Extreme Skydiving, and we've arranged for a discount on your first tandem jump. Regular price is $249.00, but if you mention you are with our event, they'll hook you up for $199.00.

Or Soaring? The Soaring Center is on the field as well, and ready to give rides and instruction. Show them your EAA or APOA card for a 20% discount.

 Before or after hours

Other places to stay and stuff to do: With Las Vegas 20 miles to the north, there's tons of places to stay other than at Jean. You might be interested in things to see and do. When we went to Jean to check out the airport and meet with EAA Chapter 1300, my wife and I ended up going to see Penn and Teller and we really had a great time... But I really don't need to go into all the details of what can be done in Las Vegas.

We also took a 40 min drive to see the Hoover Dam. I was in total awe. I've seen it a million times on TV and in books, but to see it in real life was something spectacular. Looking down the face of the dam gave me instant vertigo, just from the sheer scale of it. The history of it was pretty inspiring too.
